Travis County Commissioners to revisit Central Health's budget Tuesday TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- The back and forth over what Central Health should be charging you, and what services should be provided with that money, continues this week. The board overseeing Travis County's health district took another pass at its budget Monday after Travis County Commissioners questioned their first proposal, but several Central Health Board of Managers members expressed frustration about why they had to return to the table. "When the commissioners court says you have the money to do this, it's an extremely myopic view of our whole equity plan," said Dr. Manuel Martin, a member of the board.The budget right now includes movement towards Central Health's 7-year plan, which includes major investments in staff, facilities and other projects aimed to provide more equitable health care to the people in Travis County struggling the most. Schenectady County property tax rebate bill signed into law SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Some homeowners in Schenectady County will soon be able to get a rebate on their property taxes. Kathy Hochul signed the bill into law on September 22, allowing Schenectady County to enact the 2023 Schenectady County Homeowners $250 Rebate Program.Homeowners who qualified for the STAR program as of Dec. 31, 2022, and whose property is in good standing, will receive a $250 rebate check. A date has not been announced for when the checks will begin to be distributed.

LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The St. Louis County Police Department issued an endangered person advisory on Monday for a missing 21-year-old woman.Penny Daughtery was last seen leaving her apartment in the 1600 block of Westport Cove on Saturday at 7 p.m.Daughtery is described as a Black female, standing 5'2" tall, weighing 151 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a dark complexion. Police say it's unknown what she may be wearing.She's without her required medications, and police worry she may become aggressive or confrontational if anyone attempts to contact her.Anyone who sees Daughtery or has knowledge of her whereabouts is asked to call their nearest law enforcement agency or contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.

California High-Speed Rail gets big boost from Biden Administration The California High-Speed Rail Authority has been awarded more than $200 million from the Biden Administration in what is one of the largest pieces of federal funding awarded to the project in its history.The $202 million grant was made by the U.S. Department of Transportation through the 2022 Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program — part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed in 2021. Man arrested in connection with series of Simi Valley burglaries A Sylmar man was arrested last Tuesday in connection with a series of residential burglaries in Simi Valley. On September 12, Simi Valley Police identified 29-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez of Sylmar as the suspect involved in a residential burglary in the 2400 block of Cedarwood Circle, according to a news release. After a thorough investigation, police discovered that Rodriguez was also responsible for two additional burglaries including a residential burglary on September 14 in the 2900 block of Racine Street in Simi Valley, as well as a Hot Prowl Burglary in the 2200 block of Trinway Avenue. At approximately 6:00 a.m. on September 19, authorities arrested Rodriguez while he was leaving his home. Days after fatal hit-and-run, 23-year-old man turns himself in A 23-year-old man has been arrested after turning himself in for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Riverside County last week, officials announced.  The incident occurred on Sept. 20 in the 5000 block of Mission Boulevard just before 3:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff Station responded to the scene and located the victim, identified as 42-year-old Jamie Pruitt in the roadway.
