TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Hundreds of local students got the chance to see what it would be like to work on the floor of the stock market on Wall Street. The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge took place Wednesday morning at Hudson Valley Community College.Students worked in teams from eight different high schools. They had $1 million to invest to start. It was all about trading stocks while getting real-time information. Organizers said the goal is to show students what it would be like to work in finance. BALLWIN, Mo. - Police are investigating a domestic shooting Wednesday night in Ballwin.According to a spokesperson for the Ballwin Police Department, they received a call about shots fired a little after 8 p.m. in the 300 block of Quail Village Drive.A man and a woman, who the police claim are in a relationship, got into an altercation, and the man shot the woman in the lower spine. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.Police said the suspect fled the scene in his car, which is described as a black BMW sedan.The police did not say if the man and woman lived together. A 24-year-old man who attempted to rob a bank in Koreatown last month and then barricaded himself in his vehicle, prompting police to release tear gas into his car, has been taken into federal custody and charged with attempted bank robbery, federal authorities announced Wednesday. The attempted robbery and standoff occurred on April 13, in the 2700 block of West Olympic Boulevard. The suspect, now identified as Los Angeles resident Oscar Rene Canales, is accused of walking into the Bank of Hope at around 1:30 p.m. and demanding money from two of the bank’s tellers. “According to witnesses, Canales threatened to have a gun and reached into his waistband as if to grab a gun,” a news release from the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated. A Riverside County family is grieving after their beloved grandmother was killed in a fatal collision in Beaumont on Monday. Pla Khang, 85, was struck by a cement truck at 8:43 a.m. in the intersection of 6th street and Highland Springs Avenue.“Every morning I miss her too much,” said Pang Yang, Khang’s daughter. “I don’t know what to do right now. So she’s not going to come back anymore.”Khang’s family says she was an active 85-year-old who took daily walks and rode the bus to run errands. “She walked everyday, cross the street, ride a bus,” Yang said, “everyone knew who she was.”Her family is seeking help in laying their grandmother to rest. She is being remembered as loving, selfless and full of joy. SAN MATEO – Police on Wednesday announced an arrest in a shooting outside a San Mateo bar last month.The shooting was reported just before 1 a.m. on April 14 in the first block of 37th Avenue.Three men got into a fight with two others inside the bar, according to the San Mateo Police Department. A member of the first group punched a member of the second group in the face. The fight continued outside the bar and a member of the first group grabbed a gun from a car.Police said that person fired one shot into the air and then two to three others at the ground. (KRON) -- The San Mateo Police Department is searching for a man who has been missing since Monday night.Hector Baez, 68, of Burlingame was last seen at about 11:45 p.m. Monday night when he was discharged from San Mateo Medical Center. He left on foot and did not return to his nursing facility in Burlingame.
